PixelAlert — Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 25, 2026

PixelAlert is a Chrome extension that walks a store's purchase funnel (home page → product → cart → checkout → purchase) and checks whether tracking pixels (Meta, Google Analytics 4, TikTok, Google Ads) fire correctly. This policy explains what data the extension touches, where it goes, and what it never does.

In one sentence: everything PixelAlert records about your store's tracking pixels stays on your own device, in your own browser's local storage. The only exception is the optional PixelAlert Pro subscription, where your email address is checked against our license server and our payment processor — see section 4 below.

1. What data the extension collects

PixelAlert only looks at network requests going to known tracking-pixel domains (Meta, Google Analytics, Google Ads, TikTok, and a few related vendors), and only on browser tabs that are open to the store address you typed into the extension.

DataWhy
Tracking request URL and parameters (event name, pixel/account ID, page path, order value and currency, timestamp)To determine whether a tracking event fired, and whether it looks correct
Request errors (e.g. blocked by an ad blocker)To tell you when a result may be unreliable
The store domain you enteredTo know which tabs to watch
Order list from your Shopify admin panel (order number, date, cancelled status, amount, currency) — only if you separately grant access to admin.shopify.com and open itTo compare against tracking events, for stores that use Shopify

2. What the extension never collects

3. Where the data goes

Nowhere but your own device. The tracking data described above is stored using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local and chrome.storage.session APIs. The extension makes no network requests of its own for this feature, other than the ones it's observing on the vendor domains listed above. Data is automatically deleted after 60 days. (The PixelAlert Pro subscription feature is the one exception — see the next section.)

4. Payment and license status (PixelAlert Pro only)

PixelAlert has an optional paid tier, PixelAlert Pro, that unlocks continuous monitoring alerts and Shopify order matching. This section only applies if you choose to activate it.

5. Sharing with third parties

Other than Paddle, as described in section 4 above, we do not sell, rent, transfer, or share any data with advertisers, data brokers, analytics companies, or anyone else. If you never activate PixelAlert Pro, none of your data ever leaves your browser.

6. Permissions the extension requests, and why

PermissionPurpose
webRequestObserve (not block or modify) requests to known tracking-pixel domains
storageSave results locally on your device
scriptingRead the order list on your own Shopify admin page, only if you grant that specific permission
Host permission for the store domain you enterRequested at runtime, only for that one domain, so the extension can see requests made by tabs open to your store
Host permission for our license serverOnly used when you activate PixelAlert Pro, to check your subscription status (see section 4)

7. Your controls

8. Children's privacy

PixelAlert is a tool for store owners and marketers and is not directed at children. It does not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Compliance

PixelAlert does not use any Google Sign-In or Google API OAuth scopes, so the Chrome Web Store's Limited Use disclosure for Google API data does not apply. As a general matter: no data collected by this extension is used for advertising, profiling, credit decisions, or any purpose other than showing you the tracking-health results you asked for. The one exception is PixelAlert Pro license verification (section 4), which is limited to confirming subscription status and is never used for advertising or profiling.

10. Changes to this policy

If what the extension collects or does changes, this page will be updated and the "Effective date" above will change accordingly.
